Filo D’Olio

Overview

Nestled in the heart of Monopoli, Italy, Filo D’Olio offers a delightful dining experience that transports you straight into the Mediterranean culinary tradition. Located at V. Mulini, 42/46, 70043 Monopoli BA, this charming restaurant specializes in crafting dishes that showcase the finest local ingredients and Mediterranean flavors.

As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted with a warm, rustic ambiance, where the decor hints at the Mediterranean's rich history, with wooden accents and earth tones. The restaurant's inviting atmosphere creates the perfect setting for a relaxed meal, whether you're with family, friends, or even for a special romantic evening.

The menu at Filo D’Olio is a beautiful representation of Italy’s diverse culinary heritage, featuring a variety of dishes inspired by the region’s freshest ingredients. The star of the menu is undoubtedly their olive oil, which is a testament to the area’s deep connection with olive cultivation. Each dish is infused with the finest oils, elevating the flavors to new heights.

A must-try starter is their “bruschetta al pomodoro,” a classic that never fails to impress. The crispy toasted bread, topped with freshly diced tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of high-quality olive oil, brings out the perfect balance of fresh and rich flavors. It’s simple yet packs a punch, setting the tone for the rest of the meal.

The pasta offerings at Filo D’Olio are another highlight. Their signature dish, “orecchiette con cime di rapa,” is a prime example of local Puglian cuisine. The orecchiette, shaped like little ears, pair perfectly with the bitter greens of the turnip tops, all harmonized with a generous helping of garlic and olive oil. It’s a dish that encapsulates the essence of the region’s flavors and is a perfect representation of the depth of expertise in the kitchen.

For those who enjoy seafood, the “grilled fish of the day” is a popular choice. Fresh from the Adriatic Sea, the fish is cooked to perfection and served with a side of seasonal vegetables. The delicate flavors of the fish are enhanced by the fresh olive oil and a light squeeze of lemon, offering a true taste of the coast. Every bite is a reminder of the importance of fresh, local ingredients in Italian cooking.

Vegetarian options are plentiful, with dishes like the “roasted vegetable platter” being a crowd favorite. The assortment of seasonal vegetables, all expertly prepared and drizzled with olive oil, showcases the simple yet effective cooking methods that make Mediterranean cuisine so special.

When it comes to dessert, Filo D’Olio doesn't disappoint. The “tiramisu” is a standout, served in a delicate glass jar that gives it a rustic touch. The creamy layers of mascarpone and coffee-soaked biscuits come together beautifully, leaving you with a sweet and satisfying end to your meal.

The wine list is another point of pride for the restaurant, offering a carefully curated selection of local Puglian wines that complement the flavors of the dishes. Whether you're a fan of a bold red or a crisp white, there’s a perfect pairing for every meal.

If you’re looking for a taste of authentic Italian cuisine with a modern twist, Filo D’Olio is a restaurant that delivers on all fronts. The menu is thoughtful, the ingredients are fresh, and the flavors are bold, making every visit a memorable one. With its emphasis on high-quality olive oil and traditional cooking techniques, this Monopoli gem is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the heart of Mediterranean dining.

Amazing and super cute atmosphere. Staff suuuuper attentive and friendly. My Girlfriend didn’t like her meat and could change her dish without any discussion - the waiters even apologised that it was not as good. Mine and her other dish (tuna steak) was both amazing. 100% recommended

The best pizzas I have eaten in our 8 day vacation trip! It started to rain and the staff asked us friendly if we want to switch tables to one inside but we were good outside. Only a little mistake was made because we only got one pizza and ordered two but the mistake was fixed in just 5 minutes when we asked for the second pizza. Also the Hugo cocktails here were one of the best we got! We loved this place!

The food is creative and unique, definitely a secret of the locals! There’s a server who speaks English very well as well and an English menu. The rosè wine is fantastic. The music is very “lounge vibe” and the design of the seating area is sooo aesthetic!!! Absolute Monopoli gem

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here! From the moment we walked in, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They offered thoughtful food recommendations and took the time to explain each dish, which really helped us appreciate the meal even more. The vibe of the place was lovely—relaxed yet refined—and every dish we tried was fantastic. The cantaloupe and prawn salad appetizer was refreshing and perfectly balanced, while the cacio e pepe pasta was rich, peppery, and just the right amount of creamy. The lobster pasta was another standout—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Truly a memorable dining experience, both for the food and the hospitality. Highly recommend!

I came here with my wife. A lovely place with a nice atmosphere. I had the Tortellini with mushrooms and my wife had the squid. The Tortellini was lovely and my wife said the squid was ok. The squid arrived a few quite minutes before the tortellini which meant my wife had to start her meal before mine arrived.
